“The US Air Force is working on plans to improve radio communication over long distances by detonating plasma bombs in the upper atmosphere using a fleet of micro satellites” reports the New Scientist. Author Geoff Manaugh responds to the possible physical implications to this in his article ‘Plasma Bombs and Sky Bridges’, in which he speculates excitedly:

“Patches of plasma appear in the sky—and machines around the world begin to awaken.”

As the intention of the bombing is to improve radio communication globally, one wonders what the implications may be for sound.
